About Us:

Norton Housing and Support Ltd (NH&S) is a Leicester based charity and small housing association which provides supported accommodation for people with mental health needs and/or a learning disability, homeless young women or other vulnerable groups. We are proud of the positive feedback we receive from people who use our services, and of our excellent reputation within the local voluntary sector and with funders, referrers and our statutory sector partners.

 

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for individuals who share our passion and values and have a range of skills and experiences to bring to our Board. Whether you have current and relevant expertise in; charity finance, construction or employment law, fundraising/income generating, adult social care or mental health services, your insights will be invaluable in shaping our strategic direction and ensuring the sustainability of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend regular 6/7 weekly board meetings and contribute to key discussions (either at our Leicester office or online).
  • Help set and review the charity’s strategic aims and objectives.
  • Ensure that Norton Housing and Support operates within its legal and regulatory framework.
  • Support and challenge the executive team to drive effective governance.
  • Advocate for the charity within the community and help raise awareness of the organisation’s work.

 

Trustees should have:

 

  • A commitment to the mission and values of NH&S
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • An ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An ability to think creatively and strategically
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of Trustees
  • The time to commit to being a Trustee
