The link between mental and physical health is an important one. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead on an exciting new Healthy Living Initiative. With a background in fitness, sports activities, personal training or weight management, you will encourage our Service Users and the wider community (particularly those with mental health needs) to live a more active lifestyle.

The role will include working with groups and one to one work, organising and taking part in activities such as walking, swimming, yoga, dancing and gym sessions. Hours will be flexible and may include some weekend work. We are looking for someone who is empathic, friendly, organised and approachable who will inspire Service Users to have the confidence to get involved in activities, whatever their ability. Many people with mental health needs struggle with anxiety and poor motivation, and the right candidate will need to be patient, understanding and consistent. Experience of working with, or caring for, those with mental health problems would be an advantage, but is not essential, as training can be provided to the right candidate.

The salary for this role is £10.00 per hour. We are currently offering 7.5 hours per week, on a 12 month fixed contract, but there may be potential for additional / ongoing work.

Whilst not essential, own transport would be an advantage as the post entails working in different locations across Leicester City. Travel expenses are payable, and 45p per mile is given for use of own car between working locations.

Our commitment to quality includes a strong focus on staff development, and we have held Investors in People status since 2012. We offer a comprehensive induction programme, with appropriate training opportunities going forward. Support systems for staff include regular supervision and access to our Health Cash Plan.

Norton Housing and Support is an equal opportunities employer, so please inform us of any special requirements you may have, particularly for interview.

To apply, please read the detailed Job Description and Person Specification then send us your CV along with a covering letter explaining how your skills and experience meet those specified in the person specification.

The closing date for applications is 4pm on 29th January 2020. You will be contacted via telephone if you are to be invited to interview. Interviews will be held on the 4th and 5th of February.
Any subsequent offer of employment is made subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references and a DBS (disclosure and barring service) check, for which a refundable deposit of £30 is required.
